About

The engineer who chose strategy

From writing enterprise software for Fortune 500 clients to democratizing business strategy for an entire economy — the long way round, on purpose.

Mark Anupom Mollick

Mark Anupom Mollick was born in Dhaka and raised in Savar. He studied Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at BUET — and taught himself business on the side, one secondhand textbook from Nilkhet at a time.

In January 2013 he did two things at once: joined CodeCrafters International as its seventh software engineer, and began his MBA at IBA, University of Dhaka. For the next decade he built enterprise software for Fortune 500 clients by day and studied Kotler case studies by night — rising from engineer to Senior Software Engineer, then Lead of Marketing & Business Services, and finally Country Lead.

The consulting started almost by accident. In 2017 he was introduced to a fast-growing e-commerce brand as a potential investor — and became its strategy consultant instead. The engagement grew from digital marketing into overall business strategy, and the idea that would become iDEAN Consulting took shape.

On 5 November 2019 — his birthday — he formally registered iDEAN Consulting. The name is a play on "idea": people with great ideas are Ideans, the way BUET graduates are BUETIANs. Since then iDEAN has trained and coached 10,000+ businesses and 70,000+ leaders across 50+ industries, and he has co-authored two case studies for Philip Kotler's Essentials of Modern Marketing (Bangladesh edition).

In 2024 he co-founded myAi with Saif Noman Khan of IBA (DU) — an AI training and automation company built on a simple thesis: AI transformation is 85% people and culture, 15% technology. myAi hosted Bangladesh's first AI Summit for senior corporate leaders and has trained 1,000+ professionals through its AiPS program.

In January 2025, after nearly twelve years, he left CodeCrafters to make iDEAN his full-time mission. The vision hasn't changed: make world-class business strategy simple, actionable — and contagious.

“Luck is when opportunity meets preparation. I kept preparing, preparing, preparing and doing, doing, doing — and when the opportunity came, I grabbed it.”

— Mark Anupom Mollick
